Interested in joining our team?

As an undergraduate:

Prepare the following application materials and deliver a hard copy to Ann (3139 IGB):

(i) cover letter explaining career goals and specific interests, including your intended length of stay

(ii) unofficial transcript*

(iii) curriculum vitae/resume

*Applicants with GPA <3.5 need not apply. We prefer applicants with >1 semester of organic chemistry lab and biology lab who have junior standing and are thinking of pursuing a doctoral degree in the chemical or life sciences; however, exceptions can be made for especially strong applicants who are earlier in their undergraduate careers or are seeking other career paths.

As a prospective graduate student:

Follow the procedures listed on the Department of Chemistry or School of Molecular and Cellular Biology website. Contact Prof. Mitchell by email prior to recruiting and/or orientation to schedule a meeting.

As a prospective postdoctoral fellow:

The salary for postdoctoral positions is scaled according to level of experience and in line with recommendations from the NIH. Preference will be given to candidates just completing their Ph.D. studies who have published several impactful first-author papers in well-respected, peer-reviewed journals in the chemical or biological sciences. To apply, please prepare the following:

(i) 1-page cover letter explaining career goals and specific scientific interests

(ii) Updated CV including a full list of submitted/accepted peer-reviewed publications. Please do not list manuscripts “in preparation”

(iii) Two PDFs of your most relevant, 1st author published papers. Please do not include review articles

Applications should be emailed to Doug Mitchell: douglasm <spAm> illinois.edu. Letters of recommendation need not be sent in this initial phase.
